In the Colorado Rockies, Sheriff Scott, heads a posse that is after four escaped convicts, and thought it is his sworn duty to return the men dead or alive, he is, as always, reluctant to kill his fellow man. He is accompanied by Jaynes, a tavern owner, who takes much delight in his telescopic rifle, and by "Smitty," a gas station owner held up the escapees and more than ready to show she can be as tough as any man, although she seems to have some other motive for getting to the leader of the convicts, Kaygo.

"Whoa, first commenter missed the point of this movie entirely...Jaynes is a killer with a license and a high powered rifle, and volunteers for this manhunt for one reason. To kill. The sheriff has seen him in action many times, doesn't want the dude around, but Jaynes weasels in anyway, thus we have a built in conflict from the start. Three of the escaped convicts aren't murderers, just people seeing a chance at freedom and taking it. The sheriff want's to round them up without bloodshed, he's aware that we all share a common bond regardless of our situations. Yep, we also have the love triangle thing, the jealousy, and many other aspects rolled into this movie, but the main theme is that we all screw up now and then, we're all human, and we shouldn't kill others for the pure enjoyment of pulling the trigger and watching them hit the dirt. That's what Jaynes thrives on, and why the sheriff smashes his high end rifle to bits on a rock toward the end of the movie. Overall theme? There is good and bad in all of us, it just flourishes in different degrees. Trivia: Murvyn Vye couldn't cut the roll of Jaynes, and was fired, replaced by Reeves, who had a very small role in the movie up to that point. He took it and flew with it, did an excellent job portraying the sociopath, the remorseless killer. Of the many movies that were based on Steve Frazee stories, this was one of the best, a sleeper b budget flick that stuck to the script thanks to the insight of budding director/cameraman Jack Couffer, and the killer camera-work of upstart Conrad Hall." "Was curious about this movie because Richard Reeves had third billing for it. In dozens of movies he had played small parts of bad news enforcers . Usually it takes only one look at him to know he is looking for an excuse to be violent. For the most part in those movies his lines added up to only a minute or two so how would he do in this movie. Maybe having a bigger part would show that he was in above his head and disappoint . Glad to report that Richard Reeves did not miss a beat in a continuation of playing the heavy very well. The bigger part in the movie even calls for one character to analyse him and it seems very accurate . Reeves did have one line that made me laugh out loud ,that was different. If there is another Richard Reeves fan they need to see this movie. As far as the rest of the movie goes the viewer is on their own. Wolverhampton,1967: nine year old Nigel Slater loves his mother though she is a hopeless cook, her finest offering being toast whilst he has great culinary aspirations. When she dies of asthma Nigel is left with a distant father but worse is to come when the 'common' Mrs. Joan Potter arrives as the Slaters' cleaner. Nigel fears, rightly, that her aim is to be the next Mrs. Slater and soon he has a new stepmother and is whisked away to the country. Joan is, however, a superb cook but this only makes for rivalry as Nigel, the only boy in his cookery class at secondary school, competes with her to find the way to his father's heart. "Toast is the story of renowned food writer Nigel slaters childhood experience with food or really lack there of. Based on his autobiographical novel of the same name. Filmed in almost permanent amber hue of childhood memories, and with a better than average quality of weekly drama the BBC like to pump out. Firstley Nigel's mother has no love of food, she hate's fresh veg(they have dirt on them)and any thing new or foreign sounding. She boil's tined food in there tins in water in a over-sized pan and hate's every moment of it. This really vex's poor young Nigel who find passion in food & cooking. His first taste of food knowledge comes form the hot male gardener. Whom tender's there garden and Nigel likes to spy on him as he gets naked in the shed from his day in his work clothes. Soon enough Nigel's long suffering mum dies of a Asama attack. And Nigel's dad employs new cleaner Mrs potter(Helena Bonham carter) In reality this reunites actors Freddie high more(older 18 yr old Nigel) with Helena Bonham carter for a third time,they first worked together on women talking dirty when Freddie was 7,before Helena played his mother in Tim Burton's Charlie and the chocolate factory.

Nigel and Mrs potter hate each other on sight,being nothing like Nigel's mother, Mrs potter swears, smokes and cooks well, the latter you think would help them find common ground but no. They battle it out (lot's of fun to watch by the way)for his dads affections.And as Mrs potter Nigel's dad get together and all 3 move to the countryside much to Nigel's destine,he finds work in a local pub as a kitchen hand (boiling bags of frozen food for 20 Min's a piece). He meet the owners boy who's a whizz in the kitchen and quickly fall's in love. i don't want to give much more away than that really but watching toast was a delightful treat from the BBC and the only thing i have not deleted from my planner after watching this Christmas.all in all a great drama 9 out of 10,thank you." There were numerous hysterical scenes that are not to be missed and well executed. There was a real through line that kept the film going and kept the audience interested and caring about the characters and their development. Nice to see something that was fun and entertaining. "Forget all the nasty things that reviewers have said about MOHAWK, an unpretentious, thoroughly enjoyable, ahead-of-its-time 1956 Western starring handsome Scott Brady (was the word "hunk" in use as early as the 1950s?) as an artist from Boston commissioned to do a series of frontier paintings to present the Iroquois Indians in a favorable light. Since Brady usually does these paintings with his shirt off, small wonder he attracts the amorous attentions of a trio of gorgeous gals: brunette Indian maiden Rita Gam, auburn-haired sexpot Allison Hayes and blonde beauty Lori Nelson (try and guess which one he winds up marrying; a nice surprise!). For about an hour, the romantic cavorting of Brady and his beauties take the forefront (the Breen office must have been napping during a lakeside interlude and make-out session with Brady & Gam wearing as little as possible). Slick direction, a sensible and often good-humored screenplay, a terrific supporting cast, and beautiful color photography contribute to making this good-natured escapism a lot more enjoyable than many of its big-budget, boring CinemaScope counterparts from the same era. www.ROTTENTOMATOES.com: Unlike Clint Eastwood, who in the 1960s was cast as the Man With No Name, Beyond the Law star Lee Van Cleef has a name, and a very functional one. Van Cleef is known to one and all as Bandit Turned Sheriff. Actually, a more appropriate cognomen would be Bandit Turned Sheriff But Still a Bandit, since Van Cleef only pretends to reform so that he can steal a cavalry payroll. Since it's hard to watch Beyond the Law with a straight face to begin with, the producers wisely decided to turn this spaghetti western into a semi-comedy. Released in Italy in 1967 as Al Di La Della Legge, Beyond the Law was distributed in the US in 1971.

"It's not the first time that a drama of Shakespeare or another classical is adapted and free interpreted for a Spaghetti Western. The story is about the war between two rancher families: Monter and the Campos. In the Shakespeare Drama the two are named Montague and Capulet. The son of the Monter who is named Johnny not Romeo has not many experiences with Guns and Women. Fortunately he got a teacher an old outlaw called Lefty and he meets Guiletta Campos the daughter of the Campos Chief. She is espoused to another man but fells in Love with the son of her father's enemy. The cast of the two lovers are Peter Lee Lawrence and Cristina Galbò. It's interesting that both became a couple during making FURY OF JOHNNY KID and married few years later. There is obviously good chemistry between them. Nevertheless the movie is more a spaghetti western as a romantic drama with typical violent scenes, a revenge story and a buddy next to the hero. The typical Buddy story it's about an old outlaw is teaching a young fellow. The Buddy (Andrès Mejuto) is called Lefty and he has only one hand left. All actors are pretty good and the movie is without strange overacting you see in so many contributions of this genre. Somehow it's like an Adult Western without childish elements you'll find in most western from Italy.

Next to these "normal" western stories there are some extraordinary scenes. I didn't expect the end and Yes that's what I would call a weird movie. FURY OF JOHNNY KID is the only western directed by Gianni Puccini who is better known for his work on more sophisticated Movies. He did quiet a good job as also the composer Gino Peguri and the cinematography by Mario Monturi have done.

FURY OF JOHNNY KID was a big surprise for me. It's a weird Spaghetti Western for Adults with good Acting, Directing and a fine score. I enjoyed this unusual Movie with a suspenseful story and many interesting scenes and at least some connection to the great Drama of Shakespeare." Written by lostinaction on IMDb.com

Mohawk is a 1956 Pathécolor drama directed by Kurt Neumann, starring Scott Brady and Rita Gam. It is about an 18th-century Boston artist sent to the Mohawk Valley to paint landscapes and portraits of Native Americans. The film reuses many sequences from the 1939 film Drums Along the Mohawk. In 1700s New York, a Boston artist working in the remote Fort Alden is torn between his love for 2 women and thrown into the middle of a Mohawk-Iroquois-American war.

Though released by 20th Century-Fox, Mohawk was produced independently by Edward L. Alperson, who also doubled as the film's musical composer. Scott Brady stars as an 18th century Boston artist, sent to Mohawk Valley to paint landscapes and portraits of Native Americans. Brady is forced to pack up his easel when he becomes embroiled in a war between the Indians and avaricious land baron John Hoyt. The villain intends to play both ends against the middle, then claim what's left when the Mohawks and settlers wipe each other out. Brady not only defies Hoyt, but also battles near-psychotic Mohawk warrior Neville Brand.

PLOT (Wikipedia): In 18th century upstate New York, a quarrelsome white man named Butler seeks to foment war with the Indians, to rid the Mohawk Valley of the natives and settlers he despises. He goes to the Iroquois chef Kowanen to warn him about a party of armed white settlers. Kowanen shows no concern, but his son Keoga and brave Rokhawah feel otherwise and plot a raid to steal the settlers' muskets. They are assisted by Keoga's sister Onida, but many Indians end up killed and Onida captured. An artist, Jonathan Adams, has arrived from Boston, commissioned to do paintings and portraits. He is joined by sweetheart Cynthia Stanhope, a society lady from Boston, and attracted to Greta Jones, a local barmaid. But when he escorts Onida from the fort back to her people, he develops a romantic interest in her instead. Adams also earns the respect and trust of Kowanen as he paints the chief's portrait and Keoga comes to admire Adams' fighting prowess. Kowanen, seeking peace with the white settlers, offers to have his son Keoga accompany Adams back to the fort, as a sign of good faith. As the two peace emissaries are en route to the fort, Butler stages an ambush, murdering Keoga. Chief Kowanen's men hold the whites responsible and take Adams captive, but he escapes, aided by Onida. When Adams finally reaches the fort, he reveals Butler's perfidy. As the enraged Indians attack, Butler is cast out of the besieged fort and meets his end in a hail of Indian arrows. A truce is declared, and while Cynthia goes back to Boston with his works of art, Adams remains behind to be with Onida.

Not only did "Hands of a Gunfighter" constitute Rafael Romero Marchent debut as a film director, but also the Spaghetti western marked the first time that American actor Craig Hill made his initial movie in Europe after he had spent more than a decade searching for stardom. After a couple of roles in American movies and television, Hill returned to Europe and spent a little over 30 years starring in a variety of westerns, horror epics, and crime movies. Marchent's "Hands of a Gunfighter" doesn't qualify as a run-of-the-mill horse opera about a pistolero who has hung up his six-guns and settled down with a wife and a son. Dan Murphy (Craig Hill of "Siege at Red River") and his wife Miriam (Gloria Milland of "Hercules Against the Barbarians") are riding through a town in a covered wagon when the town lawman, Sheriff Rogers (Jesús Puente of "A Bullet for Rommel") takes a shot at Murphy with a rifle and kills Murphy's son. At this point, the narrative becomes muddled. Years elapse, and we learn that Murphy and Miriam are living the quiet life of a rancher with a son, Andy (Francisco José Huetos), but Andy isn't their son. Actually, Andy belongs to Sheriff Rogers, and one of Rogers' deputies come to get him and return him to his biological father. Andy has been living with Dan and Miriam long enough that he believes that they are his parents. Meantime, trouble brews between Murphy and the Castle brothers who own a ranch and cast a giant shadow in the community. The Castles are ruffians, and they pick on Dan and his friends, a young couple who have moved into a nearby ranch. The Castles have been trying to bait Dan into a fight, but he hasn't accommodated them. Eventually, after they murder and burn out the young couple, a reluctant Dan buckles on his six-shooter, and he gives them the opportunity that they have eagerly awaited. The problem is that they aren't prepared for the showdown, and they pay the consequences of years that they harassed Dan. One of the Castles, Davy (Piero Lulli of "My Name is Nobody"), discovers that he should never have bullied Murphy. The showdown between these two hombres is singular in the annuals of Spaghetti westerns. Dan brandishes two revolvers, and he loads one bullet into one of them. Afterward, he hands the shooting irons to a bystander and instructs him to shift them around so that nobody can possibly know which one contains a bullet. Murphy has him pitch the guns into the dust, and he gives Davy first go at choosing the loaded firearm. Predictably, Davy selects the wrong six-gun, and the hammer clicks six-times on each empty cylinder. Conversely, Dan takes the other revolver and shoots Davy dead on the spot. Meantime, Miriam has gone to visit Andy who believes that he will have a chance to see his father. When Dan arrives at Rogers' ranch to take Andy home, Rogers' ranch hands blast Murphy to pieces in a hail of gunfire. "Hands of a Gunfighter" isn't your average reformed gunslinger western, but it is an interesting variation on the theme. Blynn Lehman, one of 9 children living in Pasadena, CA during 1917 is facing a year full of changes. His older brother announces that he has received a draft notice from the army. His father informs the family that due to pay cuts and the economic struggles of the time, they are all going to need to tighten their belts and do what they can to make it through their present financial struggles. As Blynn watches his older siblings begin working and saving, he decides to lead the younger kids in an attempt to help the family survive. An overheard conversation leads Blynn to believe that composing a hit song could make big money, and since his father has already begun writing a song about the love of God, Blynn and his siblings try to help their father finish the song. Their comical failed attempts to write a verse for the song cause Blynn to realize he doesn't understand what it means to love God. When Blynn stumbles across the perfect verse to finish the song, the hunt for the author begins, leading them from an old asylum to a scholarly Rabbi where they learn that an ancient Jewish Rabbi living in Germany during the time of the first crusade originally composed the verse that they are now using to complete their father's song. When the family receives news that their oldest brother has died in the war, Blynn's struggle to understand God's love comes to a climax. Ultimately, Blynn learns what it means to love God and others.
